Basketball Game Preview: TERRA Environmental vs. Sunset Knights

TERRA Environmental is 1-8 against Sunset since November of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. TERRA Environmental will welcome the Sunset Knights at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Thursday, TERRA Environmental was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 56-51 to Coral Reef.

TERRA Environmental might have lost, but man, Nick Merlo was a machine: he dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 boards. Merlo is becoming a predictor of TERRA Environmental's success: when he posts at least eight rebounds the team is 3-1 (and 3-4 when he doesn't). Raul Hernandez was another key player, going 5 of 12 on his way to 10 points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, Sunset didn't have quite enough to beat Varela on Friday and fell 45-43. While the Knights didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Vipers 12-7 in the first quarter.

Sunset's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for TERRA Environmental, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 6-5.

Everything came up roses for TERRA Environmental against Sunset in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, as the team secured a 98-50 victory. In that game, TERRA Environmental amassed a halftime lead of 48-23, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
