Basketball Game Preview: Elliott County Lions vs. Phelps Hornets

The Elliott County Lions will take on the Phelps Hornets at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Elliott County's offense hasn't had much luck over their past 13 matchups, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Last Friday, Elliott County was beaten by East Carter 72-20. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 253rd, while the Raiders are ranked 106th).

Phelps has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 64-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mingo Central on Saturday.

Elliott County's defeat dropped their record down to 0-13. As for Phelps, their loss dropped their record down to 14-7.
