Sand Creek is 1-6 against Elizabeth since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Scorpions will host the Cardinals at 3:30 p.m. Sand Creek is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
Sand Creek took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against The Classical Academy, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Scorpions had just enough and edged out the Titans 3-2.

Logan Rockhold was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI.
Rockhold wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Lucero, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last matchup, Elizabeth made sure to put some runs up on the board against Bennett on Saturday. The Cardinals walked away with an 11-7 win over the Tigers. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Cardinals' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Elizabeth also got a great performance from Brody Aldridge as he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits.
On the hitting side, Joey Dome was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Elizabeth's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-3 when he doesn't). Trevor Bertsch was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
Elizabeth was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .484. The last time their batting average was this high was back in May of 2024.
Sand Creek is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. As for Elizabeth, their victory bumped their record up to 7-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Sand Creek has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Elizabeth struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Sand Creek skirted past Elizabeth 3-2 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Do the Scorpions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cardinals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
