Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Grantsville walked away with it. They put the hurt on the North Sanpete Hawks with a sharp 12-1 win on Thursday. Considering the Cowboys have won 16 matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Hayden Bytheway made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Bytheway was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Eden Ressel was incredible, going 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Kamry Allen was another key player, earning three runs and one stolen base.
Grantsville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 17 of their last 19 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for North Sanpete, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 16-12.
Looking ahead, Grantsville will take on Emery at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. The Spartans will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Cowboys surely won't give up without a fight. As for North Sanpete, they will challenge Manti at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday.
