If South Dade beats Homestead with 16 runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. South Dade put the hurt on Hialeah-Miami Lakes with a sharp 16-2 victory last Friday. The result was nothing new for the Buccaneers, who have now won seven contests by 11 runs or more so far this season.

A. Guedes made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, South Dade let K. Pena and K. Orta run wild. Pena went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Orta scored three runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-3. R. Eichler was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
South Dade kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Homestead lost 18-8 to TERRA Environmental last Tuesday. The loss was the Broncos' first of the season.
Audrina Thomason was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Breah Pruitt, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
South Dade pushed their record up to 7-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Homestead, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. South Dade hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .442. However, it's not like Homestead struggles in that department as they've averaged .518. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
