Basketball Recap: Treyshawn Weatherspoon Key Part of Team Effort in Rams Win

Kennedy Catholic typically has all the answers at home, but on Wednesday Rogers proved too difficult a challenge. They managed a 77-72 victory over the Kennedy Catholic Lancers. The Rams have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Lancers, too.

Rogers' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Treyshawn Weatherspoon led the charge by going 5-for-12 en route to 17 points in addition to seven assists and seven rebounds. Weatherspoon's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Nick Sanders was another key player, going 6-for-9 on his way to 17 points and six steals.

Rogers is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy: their three-point shooting accuracy was 35.8% in those games and 27.2% outside of them. As for Kennedy Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 13-8.

Coming up, Rogers is taking a road trip to face off against Auburn at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Auburn's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five games. As for Kennedy Catholic, they will host Bonney Lake at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Kennedy Catholic is facing Bonney Lake at the right time seeing as Bonney Lake is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
