Baseball Recap: Banquete Victorious

Banquete won against Santa Gertrudis Academy last Friday with seven runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Bulldogs won by a run and slipped past the San Diego Vaqueros 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bulldogs have posted against the Vaqueros since March 21, 2023.

Banquete got a great performance from Justin Ramirez as he struck out seven batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Ramirez has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Banquete saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Austin Ramirez, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Banquete now has a winning record of 10-9-1. As for San Diego, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-10-1.

Looking ahead, Banquete will challenge Orange Grove at 7:00 p.m. on the 25th. Orange Grove's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Banquete's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for San Diego, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 10-0 win against Ben Bolt on the 21st.
