Basketball Recap: Mount View Golden Knights vs. Mingo Central Miners
Mount View lost against Mingo Central back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Mount View Golden Knights had to suffer through a 73-29 loss at the hands of the Mingo Central Miners. While losing is never fun, the Golden Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 87th, while the Miners are ranked 31st).
Addie Smith was her usual excellent self, going 11 of 23 en route to 34 points in addition to seven assists and seven rebounds for Mingo Central. The matchup was Smith's ninth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of DaLaney Grimmett, who went 6 for 10 on her way to 15 points and seven boards.
Mount View dropped their record down to 3-5 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Mingo Central, their victory bumped their record up to 9-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mount View won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against River View at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mingo Central, they will square off against James Monroe at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
