Basketball Game Preview: Elk Valley Christian Eagles vs. Hoover Huskies

The Elk Valley Christian Eagles will venture away from home to face off against the Hoover Huskies at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Monday, Elk Valley Christian blew past Calvary Baptist Academy, posting a 51-20 win. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 25 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Hoover had just enough and edged Lincoln County out 52-49 on Monday.

Hoover's win came from a few key players Elk Valley Christian will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Ayva Veltri, who posted 20 points and three steals. She has become a key player for Hoover: the team is 4-1 when she posts at least 20 points, but 2-9 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Haas, who earned six points along with six rebounds and five assists.

Elk Valley Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 30.6 points. As for Hoover, their record now sits at 6-10.

Elk Valley Christian came up short against Hoover in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, falling 45-34. Can Elk Valley Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
