Danvers is a perfect 10-0 against Winthrop since May of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Falcons will head out to take on the Vikings at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
It was a Battle of the Birds when Danvers duked it out with Essex North Shore Agric & Tech School on Friday. The Falcons won by a run and slipped past the Hawks 6-5. That's two games straight that the Falcons have won by just one run.
The team relied heavily on Lila Flynn, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Giana Cash was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Winthrop came out on top against Ipswich on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run second inning. The Vikings put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 12-5 win. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won three matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
Briella McFarland spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on eight hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Francesca Indrisano was incredible, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabriela Bustamante, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Winthrop was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
The victory made it two in a row for Danvers and bumps their season record up to 4-3. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Winthrop, the win got them back to even at 4-4-1.
Everything went Danvers' way against Winthrop when the teams last played back in April of 2025, as Danvers made off with a 16-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Falcons since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
