Basketball Game Preview: Spring Hill Panthers vs. Gilmer Buckeyes

Spring Hill is on a four-game streak of home losses, Gilmer a four-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck will change on Tuesday. The Spring Hill Panthers will welcome the Gilmer Buckeyes at 7:30 p.m.

Last Friday, Spring Hill took a blow against Chapel Hill, falling 77-47. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1160th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 291st).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Gilmer). They walked away with an 81-69 win over Cumberland Academy on Saturday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Gilmer has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-11 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.8 points per game. As for Spring Hill, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-15.

Spring Hill couldn't quite finish off Gilmer in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 and fell 50-47. Can Spring Hill avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
