Basketball Recap: Tyrus Reel's Big Game Can't Quite Lead East Poinsett County over Marked Tree

East Poinsett County had lost two consecutive heartbreakers to Marked Tree and they left with a heavy heart again on Friday. The East Poinsett County Warriors fell 55-47 to the Marked Tree Indians. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Indians this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 44-41 back in December of 2024.

East Poinsett County's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tyrus Reel, who posted 14 points and six boards. The dominant performance also gave Reel a new career-high in blocks (two). Jacob Gaines was another key player, going 5-for-10 on his way to 11 points along with six rebounds and five assists.

East Poinsett County's defeat dropped their record down to 19-6. As for Marked Tree, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-5.

As of now, neither East Poinsett County nor Marked Tree have any future games scheduled.
