Basketball Recap: Medora Falls to Barr-Reeve in First Game of Season

Medora kicked off their season on the road on Saturday and hit a couple of potholes. They took a blow against the Barr-Reeve Vikings, falling 68-22. The Hornets were not able to make up for their loss to the Vikings from their previous meeting back in November of 2024.

Medora's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Hudson Johnson, who posted seven points, and Waylon Burrell, who put up nine points.

Barr-Reeve's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jaylon Graber led the charge by almost dropping a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Graber a new career-high in steals (three). Kierson Lengacher was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Barr-Reeve pushed their record up to 2-0 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.

Medora wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 68-60 victory against Shawe Memorial on the 2nd. As for Barr-Reeve, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Orleans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
