The Holy Cross Crusaders will face off against the Holy Redeemer Royals at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Holy Cross is coming into the contest hot, having won their last 11 games.
Holy Cross' pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They blew past Dunmore 8-0. The result was nothing new for the Crusaders, who have now won 16 games by six runs or more so far this season.
The result came thanks to AVA SCHMIDT's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 16 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Holy Cross let MIA GALELLA and JULES GALELLA run wild. MIA went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run and three runs, while JULES went 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI JULES has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was MEGAN HASSAJ, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Holy Cross kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dunmore only managed three hits.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Monday as neither Holy Redeemer nor Williamsport made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Royals fell just short of the Millionaires by a score of 2-1. The loss continues a trend for the Royals in their meetings with the Millionaires: they've now lost four in a row.
Holy Redeemer saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lauren Hayden, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Holy Cross' win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Holy Redeemer, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-6.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Holy Cross hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .436. However, it's not like Holy Redeemer struggles in that department as they've averaged .366. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
