Volleyball Recap: Southern Wells Starts Season with Victory on the Road

Southern Wells had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Fort Wayne Bishop Luers Knights.

Southern Wells had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 24-26, 25-17, 25-13, 25-22.

Southern Wells was led to victory by Kaylee Davis and Jailyn Chase. Davis had 18 digs and two aces, while Chase had seven digs. Those two aces gave Davis a new career-high.

They weren't the only good server: Southern Wells was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 24 aces. They served 14 more aces than Fort Wayne Bishop Luers' also-impressive total of ten.

Southern Wells has already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against Eastbrook on the 19th. As for Fort Wayne Bishop Luers, they will take on New Haven at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The last three games the Bulldogs have played have been within one set, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
