Softball Recap: Centennial's Loss Ends Six-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Centennial dropped their record down to 12-7 on Thursday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins on the road. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 13-3 to the Damascus Hornets, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hornets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-3 on Wednesday.

As for Damascus, their win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-3-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 games by nine runs or more this season.

For Damascus' part, Ana DiGiandomenico made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. DiGiandomenico has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 5-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Those five hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Kailyn Sheahin was a standout: she went 2-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Amaya Hammond, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Centennial does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Damascus has already played their next matchup (against Glenelg), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
