Five-star North Carolina signee led Holy Innocents Episcopal to its first state championship.
Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in high school basketball. The tradition continues to close out the 2024-25 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.
For the season, Wilson averaged 21.6 points, 11.1 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 3.6 blocked shots and 2.1 steals per contest. He shot 56.4 percent from the field and 34.2 percent from 3-point range.

In an 84-45 blowout of North Cobb Christian (Kennesaw) in the title game, Wilson piled up 33 points, 13 rebounds, three assists and three blocks in the final outing of his career.
Wilson earned first team MaxPreps Junior All-America honors in 2023-24 after putting up 20.8 points, 14.6 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 4.4 blocked shots per contest to help the Golden Bears reach the Class AAAA state title game. Wilson ends his high school career with just over 1,900 points in 100 games.
Regarded as the No. 6 prospect in the Class of 2025 according to
247Sports, Wilson signed with North Carolina over offers from Alabama, Auburn, Baylor, Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, Ohio State and Tennessee among others.
Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team, which is scheduled to be released April 8. Past selections include 2023-24 All-NBA picks Devin Booker (2014), Jalen Brunson (2014, 2015), Anthony Davis (2011), Kevin Durant (2006), Anthony Edwards (2019) and Jayson Tatum (2014, 2015, 2016).
