Football Recap: Centennial Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Centennial, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They strolled past the Schurr Spartans with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 20-6. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Huskies as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Centennial's defense and their six sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Jaylene Sangenito and Brystal Albright, who racked up all six sacks between them. Albright has become a key player for Centennial: the team is 4-2 when she posts at least two sacks, but 6-10 otherwise. Montanez got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Centennial's victory bumped their record up to 10-12. As for Schurr, with the defeat, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-3.

Looking ahead, Centennial will face off against King at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Wolves' defense has only allowed 12.2 points per game this season, so the Huskies' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Schurr, they will head out to challenge Alhambra at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Spartans will be up against the Moors' rather soft defense (which has allowed 26.55 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
