Football Recap: Bishop Alemany Takes a Loss

After flying high against San Fernando two weeks ago, Bishop Alemany came back down to earth. The Warriors came up short against the Bishop Diego Cardinals on Friday, falling 43-18. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 283rd, while the Cardinals are ranked 98th).

It was another big night for Gabe Villa, who rushed for 183 yards and two touchdowns, and also caught one TD for Bishop Diego. With that strong performance, Villa is now averaging an impressive 102.4 rushing yards per game. Ian Bartley was another key player, gaining 102 total yards and a touchdown.

Bishop Alemany's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Bishop Diego, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bishop Alemany will host Paraclete at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup will give the Warriors their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Bishop Diego, they will welcome Camarillo at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 883 yards in their previous games.
