Volleyball Recap: Venice Comes Up Short

Venice was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Vero Beach.

Melissa Apolonio paced Venice's offense, picking up seven kills. Apolonio got some help from Amelia Anselmi and her 16 assists. Finally, Tien Murray kept Venice's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

Vero Beach can attribute much of their success to Sara Maresca, who had eight digs and two assists.

Venice's loss dropped their record down to 9-12. As for Vero Beach, their win bumped their record up to 16-4.

Venice wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 2-1 victory against Academy of the Holy Names on the 4th. As for Vero Beach, they have also already played their next matchup, a 2-0 win against Seminole on the 4th.
