Basketball Recap: Charlevoix Takes a Loss

Charlevoix was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 53-49 heartbreaker at the hands of the Elk Rapids Elks. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Elks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 68-47 last Thursday.

Charlevoix's loss dropped their record down to 13-7. As for Elk Rapids, the victory was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-4.

Charlevoix and Elk Rapids should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings. Charlevoix will square off against Cheboygan at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday up 132 places (130 vs. 262). Similarly, Elk Rapids (ranked 96th) will meet Boyne City (ranked 218th) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
