Basketball Recap: Jackson Academy Starts Season with Defeat at Home

Jackson Academy unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a hard 64-49 fall against the Southern Academy Cougars on Tuesday. The Eagles have struggled against the Cougars recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Jackson Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kayden Moore went 8-for-18 to rack up 22 points. Another player making a difference was Darren Burroughs, who posted 11 points.

Jackson Academy will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Patrician Academy at 7:00 p.m. on December 2. As for Southern Academy, they will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on Edgewood Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
