Basketball Game Preview: Peru Tigers vs. Culver Academies Eagles

The Peru Tigers will venture away from home to take on the Culver Academies Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Peru will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Peru will head into Friday's match hoping to keep the good times rolling: they proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 22) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Whitko 46-43. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tigers have posted since February 28, 2024.

It was another big night for Gavin Eldridge, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten boards. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in rebounds. Another player making a difference was Xavier Turner, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 boards.

Peru smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Culver Academies, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They walked away with a 50-38 win over Lake Forest Academy on Saturday.

Culver Academies pushed their record up to 8-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.8 points per game. As for Peru, their record now sits at 9-7.

Peru came out on top in a nail-biter against Culver Academies in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, sneaking past 56-54. The rematch might be a little tougher for Peru since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
