Basketball Recap: Chapel Hill Comes Up Short

Chapel Hill has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 39-33 heartbreaker at the hands of the Riverside-Durham Pirates. The game marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the loss, Chapel Hill still got an impressive performance from Niko Davis, who went 5-for-11 on his way to 16 points and seven rebounds. The dominant performance gave Davis a new career-high in points.

Darryn Johnson went supernova for Riverside-Durham, going 6-for-10 to rack up 13 points in addition to six steals and five boards. Johnson has become a key player for Riverside-Durham: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least three steals, but 3-12 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Amari Royster, who posted nine points.

Chapel Hill's defeat dropped their record down to 13-7. As for Riverside-Durham, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-14.

Coincidentally, Chapel Hill and Riverside-Durham will both be playing Jordan the next time they take the court. Chapel Hill will head out to face Jordan at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while Riverside-Durham will head out to face them at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
