Basketball Recap: Abby Feick's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Jefferson Area over Mckinley

After flying high against Lakeside last Wednesday, Jefferson Area came back down to earth. The Jefferson Area Falcons fell 52-40 to the McKinley Red Dragons on Thursday. The Falcons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Red Dragons apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.

Jefferson Area's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Abby Feick, who posted eight points and nine boards. Another player making a difference was Tatum Bordeaux, who had 11 points.

Even though they lost, Jefferson Area smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in 17 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Jefferson Area's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-10. As for McKinley, they now have a winning record of 10-9.

Jefferson Area will be playing in front of their home fans against Fairview at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for McKinley, they will head out on the road to challenge Struthers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
