The Palmview Lobos will face off against the Flour Bluff Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Palmview is coming into the contest hot, having won their last nine games.
Last Friday, Palmview had just enough and edged out Martin 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Lobos have posted against the Tigers since April 13, 2021.

Mateo Garcia made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
Garcia wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Javier Garza, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Jaxzel Cantu was another, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double.
Meanwhile, Flour Bluff beat King 4-1 on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hornets.
Like Palmview, Flour Bluff also got a great game from a two-way player: Colten Englert. On the mound, he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Englert also tossed no walks, which is notable because Flour Bluff is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 11-12-2 otherwise. Englert was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
In other pitching news, Roland Vera looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He is becoming a predictor of Flour Bluff's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is 4-1 (and 9-12-2 when he doesn't).
Back at the plate, Bradley Terry was excellent, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double.
Palmview pushed their record up to 19-6 with the victory, which was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for Flour Bluff, the victory got them back to even at 13-13-2.
Palmview took their win against Flour Bluff in their previous meeting back in February of 2020 by a conclusive 6-0 score. Will the Lobos repeat their success, or do the Hornets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
