Basketball Recap: Terrell Comes Up Short

Terrell played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 56-23 defeat at the hands of the Midlothian Heritage Jaguars. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 765th, while the Jaguars are ranked 240th).

Despite the loss, Terrell saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Danielle Jones posted nine points.

Midlothian Heritage's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Daniella Tometi led the charge by putting up 15 points. That's the most points Tometi has posted since back in November of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Bri Finch, who put up 13 points.

Terrell has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-16 record this season. As for Midlothian Heritage, they pushed their record up to 19-7 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Terrell will square off against rival Kaufman at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Midlothian Heritage is set to face off against their familiar foe Ennis at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
