Basketball Recap: Scotus Starts off Right with Win over St. Cecilia

Scotus had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They strolled past the St. Cecilia Bluehawks with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 50-32. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Shamrocks also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2024.

Carson Wessel was the offensive standout of the game as he went 6-for-11 to rack up 14 points. Another player making a difference was Karsten Killham, who posted nine points.

When it comes to explaining why St. Cecilia lost, don't look at Malachi Swanson. Despite the final result, he shot 63% from the field on his way to 13 points along with seven rebounds and four blocks.

Looking ahead, Scotus will be playing in front of their home fans against Grand Island Central Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on the 12th. As for St. Cecilia, they will head out on the road to challenge Bishop Neumann at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
