Recap: Amanda Elzy Panthers vs. Yazoo County Panthers
Even though The Amanda Elzy Panthers have not done well against the Yazoo County Panthers recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Amanda Elzy pulled ahead with a 33-32 photo finish over Yazoo County. The win was familiar territory for Amanda Elzy who now have four in a row.
Jevarion Glover continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 241 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 11.5 yards per attempt, and also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Eldred Horton was in the mix as well, providing Amanda Elzy with two touchdowns.
Amanda Elzy's defensive line stepped up as well, laying out the QB 11 times. The heavy lifting was done by Horton and Detrick Munford who racked up six sacks between them.
Amanda Elzy is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. As for Yazoo County, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-5.
Amanda Elzy will be playing at home against Winona at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Winona knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight games -- so hopefully Amanda Elzy likes a good challenge. As for Yazoo County, they will head out on the road to face off against Edwards at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
