Hampton came tearing into Thursday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.8 points), and they left with even more momentum. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 57-7 victory over the Heritage Hurricanes. Given the Crabbers' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 20th, while the Hurricanes are ranked 262nd) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Hampton's win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Heritage, they dropped their record down to 1-8 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home.
