Soccer Game Preview: Winnebago vs. Stillman Valley

Winnebago is 1-7 against Stillman Valley since April of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Indians will head out to face off against the Cardinals at 4:30 p.m. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Winnebago is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Saturday. They fell 2-0 to Woodstock North.

Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Stillman Valley's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They came up short against Byron, falling 3-0. While losing is never fun, Stillman Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 264th, while Byron are ranked 119th).

Stillman Valley now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Winnebago, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.

Winnebago suffered a grim 4-0 defeat to Stillman Valley when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Indians avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
