Softball Game Preview: Monroe County Falcons vs. Warren Central Dragons

Monroe County is 7-1 against Warren Central since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. Monroe County will head out on the road to challenge Warren Central at 6:00 p.m. Monroe County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.

Monroe County barely beat Caverna the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Monroe County put the hurt on Caverna with a sharp 24-9 victory on Thursday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Falcons as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Jessie Cook was a standout: she scored four runs while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Maelee Ford, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.

Monroe County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .743. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Warren Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 10-8 heartbreaker at the hands of Metcalfe County.

Warren Central's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Monroe County, their victory bumped their record up to 2-5-1.

Monroe County took their win against Warren Central in their previous matchup last Tuesday by a conclusive 10-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for Monroe County since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
