Basketball Recap: Kalea Ogo and Sariah Jackson Secure Win for Montezuma-Cortez

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Montezuma-Cortez). They strolled past the San Juan Broncos with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 64-50. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Panthers also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.

Montezuma-Cortez was led to victory by Sariah Jackson and Kalea Ogo. Jackson went 9 for 19 on her way to 18 points in addition to seven steals and five assists, while Ogo almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine steals. With that strong performance, Jackson is now averaging an impressive 15.5 points per game. Another player making a difference was Taylor Whited, who posted 15 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Montezuma-Cortez was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2023.

The win got Montezuma-Cortez back to even at 2-2. As for San Juan, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-4.

Montezuma-Cortez will be taking part in a tournament against Grants at 12:00 p.m. on December 19th. As for San Juan, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 68-33 loss against Panguitch on the 13th.
