Basketball Preview: Cape Cod Academy Seahawks vs. Martha's Vineyard Regional Vineyarders
Cape Cod Academy and the Vineyarders are an even 4-4 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Cape Cod Academy Seahawks will head out on the road to take on the Martha's Vineyard Regional Vineyarders at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cape Cod Academy comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
Last Friday, Cape Cod Academy came up short against the Sharks and fell 57-48. While losing is never fun, Cape Cod Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts basketball rankings (they are ranked 309th, while the Sharks are ranked 85th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Mikey Santos, who scored 22 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. Another player making a difference was Jameson Cassidy, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds.
Meanwhile, even though St. Mary's scored an imposing 64 points on Sunday, Martha's Vineyard Regional still came out on top. Martha's Vineyard Regional took their matchup against the Spartans 77-64. The win made it back-to-back wins for Martha's Vineyard Regional.
Cape Cod Academy dropped their record down to 0-16 with that loss, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Martha's Vineyard Regional, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.
Cape Cod Academy took a serious blow against the Vineyarders in their previous matchup back in January, falling 80-38. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Cape Cod Academy was down 49-19.
