Soccer Game Preview: Mayfair vs. Compton

The Mayfair Monsoons and the Compton Tarbabes will round out the year against one another at 10:00 a.m. on Friday.

Mayfair came into their game on Monday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 3-0 to St. John Bosco. While losing is never fun, Mayfair can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 485th, while St. John Bosco are ranked 46th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Compton). Their defense stepped up to hand Centennial a 5-0 shutout on Friday. The high-scoring effort was just what Compton needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

Compton's victory bumped their record up to 2-3-2. As for Mayfair, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.
