Baseball Game Preview: Pueblo Centennial Bulldogs vs. Pueblo East Eagles

Pueblo Centennial is 2-8 against Pueblo East since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Bulldogs are taking a road trip to face off against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Pueblo Centennial has given up an average of 10.3 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Pueblo Centennial is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game on Monday. They came up short against Alamosa, falling 11-2.

Jack Espinoza was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and ten unearned) runs off nine hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Pueblo Centennial saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bryson Byrd, who scored a run while going 2-for-2. Landen Lenn was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Pueblo East was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-5 heartbreaker at the hands of Denver North. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by exactly two runs.

Pueblo Centennial's loss dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Pueblo East, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

Pueblo Centennial might still be hurting after the 18-5 defeat they got from Pueblo East when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
