Softball Recap: Pender Triumphs

Pender won the last time they faced West Columbus and things went their way on Monday too. The Patriots came out on top against the Vikings by a score of 6-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Patriots.

Alyna Rooks spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Kenyatta Jacobs was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee Woodcock, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

Pender's record now sits at 12-5. As for West Columbus, they dropped their record down to 2-10 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Pender will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Vikings: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
