Basketball Recap: Fossil Ridge SaberCats vs. Fairview Knights
The Fossil Ridge SaberCats waltzed into their match on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They strolled past Fairview with points to spare, taking the game 43-28. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Fossil Ridge also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Fossil Ridge's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elli Johnson, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds and four steals. Natalie Lin was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five assists and two steals.
Despite the loss, Fairview still got an impressive performance from Danae Addison-taylor, who scored 11 points along with two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Hickory, who scored six points along with two steals.
Fairview struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Fossil Ridge is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. As for Fairview, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-9.
Fossil Ridge won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Spartans at 1:00 p.m. on January 27th. Hopefully Berthoud focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 last Thursday. Fairview's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on January 30th. Boulder is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
