Basketball Recap: Diego Contreras' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Pinnacle over Piute

Pinnacle lost against Piute back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Pinnacle Panthers lost 82-56 to the Piute Thunderbirds. The Panthers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-25.

Pinnacle lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Diego Contreras, who posted 12 points along with six boards and three blocks. The dominant performance gave Contreras a new career-high in blocks. Joey Howell was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Even though they lost, Pinnacle was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Pinnacle's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Piute, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pinnacle will welcome Non Varsity Opponent at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Piute, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Panguitch at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
