Baseball Recap: Kennebunk Wins Going Away Against Portland

Kennebunk's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 12-6 margin over the Portland Bulldogs. The victory continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won three in a row.

Griffin Whitney tossed a big game, pitching six innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off eight hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (two).

At the plate, Max Andrews was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. He has become a key player for Kennebunk: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-8 otherwise. Theo Adams also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.

Kennebunk's record now sits at 4-8. As for Portland, their loss was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-11.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kennebunk will welcome Scarborough at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. The Red Storm will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something the Rams surely won't give up without a fight. As for Portland, they will host South Portland at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs are facing the Red Riots at the right time seeing as the Red Riots are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
