Shenango put their dominant pitchers on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Wednesday. They never let the Aliquippa Quips get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by nine runs or more this season.
Sydney Byerly and Addison Downing made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Byerly tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Downing tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Byerly has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Byerly went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Downing got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Emma Herb was incredible, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Brianna Aluisia, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.
Shenango's win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Aliquippa, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.
Coincidentally, Shenango and Aliquippa will both be playing Neshannock the next time they take the field. The Wildcats will host the Lancers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Quips will head out to face them at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
