Football Recap: Mount Zion Christian Academy Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Mount Zion Christian Academy had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They strolled past the East Chapel Hill Wildcats with points to spare, taking the game 36-17. This was payback for the Mighty Warriors, who suffered a 21-14 loss the last time these two teams met.

Sherrad Bennard III continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 210 yards and three touchdowns on only nine passes, while also rushing for 47 yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Mount Zion Christian Academy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 237 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Mount Zion Christian Academy's defense and their eight sacks. It was truly a group effort as Jahshua Fishe, Zachary Mason, and Lawrence Muldrow Jr picked up two apiece. Muldrow Jr is crushing it when it comes to sacks: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the field this season.

Mount Zion Christian Academy's record is now 3-1. As for East Chapel Hill, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.

Coming up, Mount Zion Christian Academy will challenge Weldon at 7:10 p.m. on the 27th. As for East Chapel Hill, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Chapel Hill at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. The matchup will give the Wildcats their first taste of in-conference action this season.
