Recap: Countryside Christian Minutemen vs. Cedar Key Sharks
The Countryside Christian Minutemen's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight defeat. They took a serious blow against Cedar Key, falling 60-33. Countryside Christian was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Sharks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Cedar Key's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sammy Cannon, who scored 25 points. Cannon continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Micah DeHaven, who scored 20 points.
Countryside Christian has not been sharp recently as the team's lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season. As for Cedar Key, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-10.
Countryside Christian won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Warriors at 11:00 a.m. on January 27th. Hopefully Aucilla Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight last Thursday. As for Cedar Key, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Saints at 6:30 p.m. St. John Lutheran is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
