Volleyball Recap: Eaton Comes Up Short in High-Profile Matchup with Montrose

Eaton faced Montrose in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Reds lost 3-0 to the Red Hawks. The Reds were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Red Hawks apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2024.

Madi Smith paced Eaton's offense, picking up 11 kills. Smith got some help from Skyelyn Lefever and her 17 assists.

Montrose was led to victory by Amaya Potter and Reina Contreras. Potter had 12 digs and one assist, while Contreras had four digs and two aces. Potter is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last three games she's played.

This is the second loss in a row for Eaton and nudges their season record down to 19-3. As for Montrose, their victory bumped their record up to 20-2.

Eaton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-1 loss against Legend on the 1st. As for Montrose, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Rock Canyon on the 1st.
