Softball Recap: Dexter Picks Up 12th Straight Win at Home

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Dexter and Ruidoso, and Dexter kept the tradition alive. The Demons came out on top against the Warriors by a score of 10-6 on Tuesday. Ten seems to be a good number for the Demons as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Kaylonie Nevarez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Melody Duran and Hannah Sanders did most of the damage at the plate: Duran went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Sanders went 1-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs Duran has posted since back in March. Maddie Miller was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Dexter's victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Ruidoso, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dexter will host East Mountain at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Demons are facing the Timberwolves at the right time seeing as the Timberwolves are stuck on an 18-game losing streak. As for Ruidoso, they will welcome Robertson at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last four games the Cardinals have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
