Recap: North Broward Prep Eagles vs. St. John Paul II Academy Eagles
The North Broward Prep Eagles waltzed into their game on Saturday with two straight wins but they left with three. They enjoyed a cozy 66-48 win over St. John Paul II Academy. Given North Broward Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 20th, while St. John Paul II Academy is ranked 223rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
North Broward Prep got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Raul Perez ruiz out in front who dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Perez ruiz has scored at least a third of North Broward Prep's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Enrico Borio, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cristian Rosado, who scored 13 points along with five assists. Another player making a difference was Ian Astiazarain, who scored 13 points.
North Broward Prep's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-4. As for St. John Paul II Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-9.
North Broward Prep will be playing in front of their home fans against American Heritage at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. St. John Paul II Academy on the road again on Tuesday and play against King's Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Javian Jones and Rosado.
