Kinkaid and HCYA are an even 4-4 against one another since March of 2019, but likely not for long. The Kinkaid Falcons will be playing at home against HCYA at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Kinkaid took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They came out on top against Non Varsity Opponent by a score of 7-6 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game).

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but HCYA ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They came out on top against Houston Christian by a score of 7-4. That's two games straight that HCYA has won by exactly three runs.

Taegan Lermann made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out 14 batters over eight innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. That's the fewest earned runs she has allowed since back in February. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Eloni Preston, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

HCYA has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-5-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.9 runs over those games. Kinkaid's victory bumped their record up to 6-3-1.

Kinkaid couldn't quite finish off HCYA when the teams last played back in April of 2024 and fell 6-4. Can Kinkaid avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
