The New Athens Yellow Jackets were the 64-52 winner over the Trico Pioneers when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. New Athens fell 49-37 to Trico on Tuesday. New Athens' defeat continues a unfortunate trend for the squad, making it three in a row.
When it comes to explaining why New Athens lost, one person who can't be blamed is Isaiah Lintker. Despite the final result, he scored 19 points along with five rebounds. The matchup was Lintker's seventh in a row with at least ten points.
New Athens' defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Trico, their win ended a eight-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-6.
New Athens will head out on the road to face off against Dupo at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Dupo comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Trico, they will play host again and welcome Steeleville, where tip off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
