Basketball Game Preview: Blackville-Hilda Fighting Hawks vs. Ridge Spring-Monetta Trojans

The Blackville-Hilda Fighting Hawks just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Ridge Spring-Monetta Trojans at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

On Monday, Blackville-Hilda was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 32-31 to Barnwell. The loss was the Fighting Hawks' first of the season.

The losing side was boosted by Breyanna Williams, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten steals. Williams is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least six every time she's taken the court this season.

Even though they lost, Blackville-Hilda smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive boards in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Ridge Spring-Monetta was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 45-39 to Williston-Elko. The Trojans haven't had much luck with the Blue Devils recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.

Ridge Spring-Monetta's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Blackville-Hilda, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Blackville-Hilda took their win against Ridge Spring-Monetta when the teams last played back in January by a conclusive 53-30. The rematch might be a little tougher for Blackville-Hilda since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
