Softball Game Preview: Granville Blue Aces vs. Mt. Vernon Yellowjackets

Granville hasn't had much luck against Mt. Vernon recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Blue Aces will be playing in front of their home fans against the Yellowjackets at 5:00 p.m.

Granville is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Thursday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of Licking Heights.

Meanwhile, Mt. Vernon had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs) and they went ahead and made it nine on Wednesday. They blew past the Redskins 18-4. The Yellowjackets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matches by six runs or more this season.

Keely Pollard was incredible, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Hailey Rudrick was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

Mt. Vernon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .577. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in 16 consecutive contests.

Mt. Vernon's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Granville, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-9.
